The Balaka Mmanga Zone Muslim Teachers Association (MUTA) on Sunday held its Annual General meeting at Mpaweni Motel in Balaka District.
The meeting was aimed at reviving the activities of the association which among other things are to strengthen the brotherhood/sisterhood among the teachers from the region – liaising with chiefs and parents on how best they can work together for the welfare of school going.”
The general meeting also elected new office bearers from President, secretary, treasurer and Public relation Officers who will serve for the next five year term.
Presenting his acceptance speech, the newly elected President of the Association Hardson Gawa promised to work hard for the improvement of the children’s welfare especially a girl child. “I will need your support because, I know that together we can do more” There are issues of dress code and early marriages for Muslim school girls, traditional and cultural activities like (Jando) circumcisions which over takes school period, it is our duty to civic educate our communities of the impact these activities on school going children.
The meeting was coordinated by Sheikh Khalid Ibrahim Stambuli Coordinator for MSA through the Officer of development of Education Sheikh Abubaker Kananji Chiyaka for Albaraka Charity Trust. Every five years.

Other six members will be co-opted at its first meeting that will take place next months .
