Former Minister of Economic Planning and Development in the Peter Mutharika’s administration Joseph Mwanamvekha tears apart President Lazarus Chakwera’s claims that Mutharika’s administration abused MK 1 Trillion.
Addressing the nation on Suturday, President Chakwera said the immediate past ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government misappropriated and mismanaged MK 1 Trillion.
Reacting to Chakwera’s claims yesterday, Mwanamvekha challenged Chakwera to validate his claims.
Mwanamvekha told Journalists that the money is too huge and government would have collapsed and that there is need for these claims to be backed up by scientific data to avoid any doubt.
In his national address, President Chakwera said the Chakwera-Chilima presidency agreed to uproot corruption in the country and he asked Malawians to work hand in hand with the Government.
The president wondered why the former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) was involved in the plunder of public funds.
On Government contracts, Chakwera said all laws of the country will be followed to ensure transparency when awarding contracts to the successful bidders.
