The Member of Parliament (MP) for Chikwawa Mkombezi Constituency, Honorable Abida Sidik Mia says the construction of Miseu Folo Health Centre is expected to reduce maternal deaths in her constituency.
According to Mia, a significant proportion of maternal deaths in Chikwawa district are due to health complications during childbirth.
“Three days ago, I presided over the ground breaking ceremony of the 79 Million Kwacha Miseu Folo Health Centre in my Constituency. This project is being funded by “Governance to Enable Service Delivery Funds,”
“Currently, a significant proportion of maternal deaths in Chikwawa are due to complications during childbirth. Construction of the Health Centre will mean people including expectant mothers from surrounding villages will have greater access to healthcare by traveling significantly lesser distances for treatment,” Mia wrote on her official Facebook page.
She adds,” This would significantly contribute to a reduction in maternal deaths. Emergency obstetrics care such as cesarean section and blood transfusions will be readily available.”
Abida Sidik Mia who is also the Minister of Water and Sanitation commits to improve access to healthcare in her constituency.
“I would like to see us continuing to improve access to healthcare services for the people. By building more healthcare service delivery facilities, improving existing ones, and deploying more healthcare workers we will create a healthier nation,” she says.
Last year, Honorable Abida Sidik Mia constructed a multi-million kwacha Therere Health Centre which was funded by the Japanese Embassy and the Constituency Development Fund in Chikwawa Mkombezi.
