It was a historical and a day to remember for the Malawian Muslims to see the former president of Republic of Malawi, Dr. Bakili Muluzi who is currently recovering from back problems joining them at Eid Fitr Prayers organized by Nikah and other Islamic Functions Association (NIFA) at Upper Stadium in Blantyre on Friday.
The former president arrived at the venue at exactly 9:00 am and were welcomed by Mufti Cassim Abbas, NIFA president, Amani Kunje and other big Sheikhs.
On speaking to Malawi Muslim Official Website, Nikah and other Islamic Functions Association president, Brother Amani Kunje praised the former UDF leader saying his presence made the prayers to be historical.
“It is an honour to me and NIFA officials because his presence here has just made this year’s prayers to be historical,” said brother Kunje.
This year’s function attracted many Muslims from Blantyre and other surrounding areas and brother Kunje also called on unity among Muslims in the country.
“I would like to ask all Muslims in Malawi that let us unite because only unity is what will make us succeed in the development of Muslim Community in Malawi,” he said.
The function was live on public Radio, Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) but was off the air when the former president arrived at the venue and NIFA publicity secretary, brother Issah Kazembe said he didn’t know why the function was off and asked our reporter to give him time to investigate the matter.
“I don’t know what has happened here. The program was indeed live on MBC but we are surprised to see that it was off the air when the former president arrived here. But Please give me time to investigate the matter and if we see that it was due to political reasons, they are going to give us our balance,” said brother Kazembe.
MAY ALLAH QUICKEN HIS RECOVERY SO THAT WE CAN STILL ENJOY HIS PRESENCE IN OCCASIONS LIKE THIS IN FUTURE INSHAALLAH.
