Lilongwe University of Agriculture (Luanar)-Natural Resources College (NRC) campus Muslim students under their body ,NRC Muslim Students Association will donate to Kachere Prison in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe.
Speaking in an interview with the Secretary of the association, Zainab Mussah Abubakar, the Muslim students have agreed to visit the inmates this month.
“Our association agreed to visit Kachere inmates this month and we are just waiting for the acceptance letter from them. Among the inmates at Kachere Prison are Muslims and we need to provide them with some necessities,” she told Malawi Muslim Website.
Mussah says the inmates have the Ustadh(a Muslim teacher)hence they may lack some basic needs to facilitate smooth learning process.
“We have learnt that the Muslim inmates have the Ustadh who teaches them Islamic scriptures twice a week. They may be lacking some necessities hence our intervention,”
“We shall donate washing and bathing soap , buckets, notebooks, pens and food stuffs. Some of these things such as buckets and soap will help them to have Twahalah, always and be able perform daily prayers,” she says.
According to Mussah, the books and pens will help the inmates to enhance their Islamic knowledge because they will be taking notes when learning.
The students are contributing money to fulfil the activity.
Over 80 Muslim students are studying various programs at Luanar- NRC campus.
