Ntchisi Second Grade Magistrate’s Court has ordered a 42-year-old man to
pay a fine of K180 000 for malicious damage which is contrary to section 344 of the penal code.
The court heard that the convict Noel Nyanda on January 7 2016 at
Ntchisi Hospital Market wilfully and unlawfully damaged one fun, three
cell phones, one subwoofer, one DVD play, one mirror glass, two
shaving machines and one extension all valued at K117 000 belonging to
Chikondi Kambani, 19, of Chananga Village in the area of Traditional
Authority Kalumo in Ntchisi district.
The court further heard that the complainant was
shaving the daughter of the convict in his barber shop as he is a
barber man and in the process, the convict went at the barber shop
and started throwing stones to the complainant suspecting him to be in
love affair with his daughter.
then the complainant escaped which
made the convict to enter into the barber shop and started damaging
all the properties in the shop.
The convict pleaded guilty and when passing the sentence, Second Grade Magistrate Young Ng’oma said he gave him that judgment to deter others with similar behaviors
The convict Noel Nyanda hails from Mgungu Village in the
area of Traditional Authority Kalumo in Ntchisi district.
