Children need to be taught the act of kindness at their tender age in order for them to share whatever they have with their colleagues like orphans who are in need in several aspects, Nyasa junior Academy Director Rubina Hajat has said.
She was speaking at her school’s campus when making a donation of various items to orphanages from Blantyre and Chiradzulu districts.
‘‘We need to inculcate the spirit of engaging in charity among young children for them to be grateful of what they have because there are a lot of children who are suffering in several ways for being poor ans orphans.’’
The items which included notebooks, pencils and biscuits among others were largely contributed by the pupils at the school.
‘‘We asked them to bring anything that they wanted to share with their friends. But the other items have been contributed by well wishers as well.’’
Speaking after receiving the donation one of the Teachers at Ntonda Community based school in Chiradzulu Luciano hailed Nyasa for the gesture saying the assistance will help in alleviating some of the challenges the school is facing.
‘‘we are really thankful to the management of this school( Nyasa junior Academy) for choosing us to be one of the beneficiaries for their charity work-we hope others will borrow a leaf from their gesture and reach to us as well as other school who are facing numerous challenges in raising orphans.’’He said.
This is not the first for the school to engage in charitable activities since it is one of the values they teach the children.
