It is a clear fact that political parties in electoral alliances made agreements ahead of June ,2020 fresh presidential polls.
The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)-United Democratic Front (UDF) Alliance has its own agreements so do Tonse Alliance which has nine political parties and according to them their aim is to kick DPP Government out power.
Hiding or unconfirming promises made when signing electoral alliance’s papers can not overweight sentiments on positions that political leaders are making on podiums. It is just untimely to reveal or confirm what facilitated political parties to unite. It is too early to start drinking coffee at the moment when the alliance’s have not even finalised preparing the table.
Competency is a trait that is only limited to competent people. Competent leaders are inclusive and always know when and how to act. Imagine , if political leaders in these alliances start confirming who gets the wallet and who heads statutory corporation A or B? It can be a sign of immaturity, greedy, insensitive and inconsiderate but such promises are there.
It is not an opinion that either DPP-UDF Alliance or Tonse Alliance wins next month’s fresh polls will at some point exchange negative sentiments. It is obvious that any gathering of more than one person disagreements erupt but what describes maturity is how such differences are solved to continue pursuing a common goal.
Do you think there will never be bats to spoil the relationship between the President and Vice President in the country as it has been happening? No ! I choose to be different on that since the culture can not be abandoned by some mediocre politicians. The medicine to the culture include openness, fairness, love and trust between the President and Vice President.
Traditionally, it seem to impossible to have a cordial relationship between the President and his Deputy but philosophically it is possible to start celebrating a President and Vice President as true allies for national development.
Who needs to waste another five years dancing to rants of a Vice President towards his boss or the opposite? No ! Malawians are tired of such uncivilised politics. Malawians need to see true democrats who will be working as unshakeable duo in taking the country forward.
The cordial relationship between the President and Vice President can guarantee Malawians that a great Malawi that they have been waiting for has now come. The country needs leaders who are visionary not pessimists. The country needs leaders who are ready to draft long term plans not starting projects that will only benefit Malawians for five years.
It is possible to have two statesmen who will define the constitutional provision of having a President and Vice President. The prosperity of the country depends on healthy relationship between the President and Vice President. Do you think Malawi cannot afford to have two statesmen who will be constitionalists?
Malawians are optimistic that next Government will have a President and Vice President who will be working hand in hand to realise the dream of the country. It is very possible and it will be possible to create Government that will be democratic. Either it will be DPP-UDF Alliance or Tonse Alliance carrying the day, but the two top officers are supposed to create a healthy brotherhood to develop the country.
