Bashir Amin: All is set now
Organisers of the first ever Malawi Muslims Awards have promised that Muslims will witness a colourful event as deserved Muslims will be recognised for their various roles played towards Islam and the country.
The much anticipated red carpet event is slated on Eid day festival at College of Medicine Sports Complex in Blanytre and it is expected to be graced by high profile figures both from within the country and outside .
As of now the organising committee has closed receiving nominations a process which run for 20 days aimed at giving a chance to Muslims of nominating deserving Muslims.
“Now we have already put together those names that have been nominated before the three Judging panel makes its determination on those who really deserves to be awarded.
“It is inevitable that there are a lot of Muslims who deserve to be awarded but it is absolutely impossible for us to award all of them hence coming up with the panel of judges to make its determination,” he said.
Categories to be awarded include best comparative dawa group, best Islamic secondary school, best sheikhs and best media personnel.
Meanwhile selling of the tickets is underway. According to Amin, those who want to witness the auspicious occasion should buy tickets which are sold at MK1, 000 for single and MK1500 for a couple from different outlets in Blantyre and Lilongwe.and for the VIP the ticket is sold at Mk10,000 for single while Mk15,000 for a couple.
“In Blantyre, they can get them at Jack shoppers (both in Blantyre near Nandos and Limbe opposite EcoBank).for those in Ndirande they can get tickets at Paseli Shop . For Lilongwe the tickets are being found at Kawale filling station but we have make an emphasis that there limited seats remaining so I am asking people who want to come to get their tickets as there will be no selling of tickets on the actual event day,” he said.
The Publicity Secretary reiterated that money collected from tickets will be used for charity.
“We want to use it for charity as one way of giving back to the community for all support they have given us during the organising of this historical event,” said Amin.
Meanwhile T-shirts for the events are being sold at MK3000 as a way of mobilising resources for the charity initiative to be fulfilled.
