“We can see Malawi as an example of one of the countries that can successfully develop faster considering that it has a lot of resources such as mines and lakes and so many other things that can bring a lot of money to this country.”

Saudi Arabian Guest Speaker for this year’s men Ijitma Dr. Khalid Al-Ojaimi has assured Malawi Government and all Muslims in the country that his country is ready and interested in supporting the development of this country.

Ojaimi who is also the head of Africa’s Committee at World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) made the remarks during the official opening of this year’s men Ijitma on Saturday at Luchenza Community Ground in Thyolo district.

He said that his home country; Saudi Arabia is the origin of Islamic religion and there are a lot of organizations which aim at supporting other countries where Islamic religion is practiced and Malawi is an example.

“Your Excellency [Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika], as we are here from Saudi Arabia where Islamic religion was founded. It’s also where you can find the most significant places; Maccah and Madinah.

“We want to tell you that there are a lot of organizations which are established in order to assist the other Islamic communities and one these organizations are World Assembly for Muslim Youth (WAMY) which aims at working together with youths and women in different fields and we will continue with this and find more other organizations to come here in Malawi to assist the country,” he said.

Ojaimi also commended the National Chairman of Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad for the work he is doing in developing the country and for inviting him and other guests on this important event in Malawi where they had a chance to meet the President of Malawi Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika.

He therefore revealed his plans to meet the MAM National Chairman and his entire team to know what actions WAMY can take in order to assist them as well as taking part in developing this country.

“Therefore, Your Excellency, this can only happen if you as a leader of this country participate in these plans we want to take so that MAM can achieve its goals and I can assure you that Saudi Arabia will always work together with the Muslims of this country as well the government,” Ojaimi said.

He also said Islamic religion always promotes giving out to the less privileged and taking an active part in developing their communities and that Islam teaches people to be humble and participate in different activities.

“Islam teaches us not to exalt and isolate ourselves from others. We should try to interact with people from different religions. The most important thing is that a Muslim should just make sure that he/she is following what Islam commands us to do and a Muslim should lead by examples to others by showing good characters,” said the Saudi Arabian Guest Speaker.

He further asked the Malawi leader to send more ambassadors and representatives in Arab and other Islamic countries in order to create good relationships in terms of politics and religion.

“We are ready to assist this country in any developmental activities but for these to happen, it needs Malawi to have ambassadors and representatives with the countries where Islamic religion is dominant like Saudi Arabia.

“Your Excellency, we can see Malawi as an example of one of the countries that can successfully develop faster considering that it has a lot of resources such as mines and lakes and so many other things that can bring a lot of money to this country and we want to assure you that we are ready to be with you at any time until this country becomes one of the developed countries,” he concluded.

The guests from Saudi Arabia also presented a gift to President Prof. Peter Mutharika and First lady Madam Getrude Mutharika for gracing the event.
