The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) has applauded Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta for momentarily pausing his speech in respect of Adhan during the funeral service of President John Pombe Magufuli.
The council said this in a statement signed by their National Chairman Al-hajj Hassan ole Naado-Ag, which Malawi Muslims Official Website has seen.
“Your demonstration of utmost respect and knowledge of Muslim traditions by allowing completion of the call of Adhan by Mu’adheen(the caller to prayer), makes us the SUPKEM leadership and Muslims community in Kenya proud and privileged to have you as our leader,” reads part of the statement.
SUPKEM further said: “On behalf of the Muslim community in Kenya we also take this opportunity to appreciate your administration’s support and pray for its continued success.
While presenting his speech at late Magufuli’s funeral in Tanzania, Kenyan President had to wait for Adhan to finish at a nearby mosque before proceeding with his speech, the thing which has attracted praises from the Muslim community worldwide.
