President Peter Mutharika has asked Muslims in the country to use the holy month of Ramadhan in the war against Coronavirus (COVID-19) .
In a statement signed by Presidential Press Secretary Mgeme Kalirani,Mutharika says Malawi Muslims should pray to God during the holy month to see off COVID-19.
“The Holy Month of Ramadhan this year comes at a unique time when the world is struggling with the coronavirus pandemic, I therefore encourage Muslims in the country to continue praying for the end of Covid -19 and peace of the nation,” says Mutharika in a statement.
The president has also urged Muslims and all Malawians to continue complying with COVID -19 safety measures as they fast and pray in order to prevent the further spread of disease.
Mutharika has further wished Muslims in the country to use the period to continue sharing good will and love to one another and strengthen their spiritual lives.
Muslims in the country have started fasting today.
