Marriam Lally has been named among Africa’s Most Outstanding Women by the Moremi Initiative for Women’s Leadership in Africa. This new group of MILEAD Fellows represents Africa’s most promising young women leaders with the courage and commitment to lead and shape the future of Africa.

The Moremi Initiative Website says that The Moremi Initiative Leadership Empowerment and Development (MILEAD) Program, identifies and invites young African women and girls to take part in a year-long development program. The selected young women and girls progress through three phases that include 1) education and training, 2) mentoring, networking, and professional internships, and 3) support and resource assistance.

Speaking to Malawi Muslims Website, the Lally who is a wife to Member of Parliament for Machinga Chingale Muhammad Lally, said that she will use the initiative to take a step further in her education prospects and leadership potential.

“Someone posted a link on Facebook and I took it from there. This initiative will help motivate me as a woman to achieve more in the future,” she said.

The Fellows were chosen through a highly competitive selection process and criteria based on their outstanding leadership promise, community service accomplishments, and commitment to the advancement of women from over 40 countries in Africa and the Diaspora.

He is stationed at the Notre Dame University.
