For the first time in the history of Malawi, a renowned international Muslim song writer and singer Zain Bhikha is set to perform live in the country’s major cities of Blantyre and Lilongwe on January 17 and January 18 2015 respectively.

The shows have been organised by Classic Events, a newly established firm whose main objective is to organise standard and high profile functions.

Classic Events Communications Manager Bashir Amin says the shows are aimed at raising funds for the 2015 Malawi Muslim Awards function.

The Malawi Muslim Awards was initiated to recognise outstanding Muslim individuals and organisations either in their personal or official capacities.

“Following the inaugural Malawi Muslim Awards which we organised in July 2014, we learnt a number of things in as far as preparations for such a big event are concerned. You know it is not an easy thing to hold a function of the calibre of the one we had in July. There are many things involved most of which require stable funds. It is from this background that we decided to do a series of fund raising events to enable us organise a more colourful and successful Muslim Awards next time, besides other charitable initiatives we are embarking on,” said the Communications Manager.

According to Amin, the show in Blantyre earmarked at Robins Park on Saturday the 17th  January , 2015 will be preceded by a dinner on Friday, January 16th, while in Lilongwe; Zain Bhikha is set to perform on Sunday January 18th.

Meanwhile the communications Manager has confirmed that the celebrated   South African Nasheed Maestro and his entourage will fly into the country 2 days before the shows.

Amin: We are hosting Zain

“I am pleased to inform the Muslim community and the general Public in the country that all official communications with Zain Bhikha Studios, a division of Ibn Sina institute of Tibb have been made for the artist to perform in Malawi on the said dates. As of now we are working tirelessly to meet the requirements for a professional performance as per the contract,” he said.

Being a high profile event, Bashir Amin has stressed that entry to the shows will require the purchase of advance tickets pegged at K2, 500 for ordinary seats and K20, 000 for VIP seats at several designated selling points across the country to be announced soon.

Zain Bhikha is a South African singer-songwriter who performs Islamic nasheed songs. Associated with other Muslim musicians, including Yusuf Islam and Dawud Wharnsby, Bhikha has collaborated on albums and also released several solo albums.

This year, Zain is celebrating 20 years of his nasheed career. He has travelled to UK, USA, Canada, France and other European and Asian countries.
