While congratulating President Joyce Banda on her ascendancy to the high office of the President of Republic of Malawi, a renowned Muslim businessman in Malawi Mahomed Farook Ibrahim, has hailed the new President for mending relationship with the donors and neighbouring countries at a short period of time.
He says what the President has done is very important for the country as it will be able to access loans and grants to improve social and economic challenges which the country is grappling with now.
“The new President thinking is quite different from her predecessor and with the way she has started we expect the forex and fuel problems to improve.
“With the availability of forex and fuel many companies and industries will be able to import raw materials among other things,” he said.
Farook further revealed that in the last regime they wanted to divert a plastic company to Mozambique because of the forex shortage in the country but now they have changed the idea after negotiating with the authorities.
He says the whole project will cost $750,000 and it will take two to three months.
Farook however, says they are hoping that the challenges of electricity power cuts will normalise with new vision of the current government.
Farook is the Director of a group of companies such as Farook Wholesalers, Omega Investments, Consolidated Textile Mills, Zenith Blankets among others.
