Former President of the Republic of Malawi Dr Joyce Banda says Malawians should embrace mindset change as lectured by Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima last week at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Malawi’s Capital, Lilongwe.
Banda says Dr Chilima’s public lecture is important for the development of the country.
“This past week Malawi listened to an amazing Lecture delivered by our Vice President, Rt Hon Saulos Chilima and it was wonderful to see the State President there as Guest of Honor,”
“Sitting here in the village I am amazed at a whole younger generation that have told me about they were extremely inspired by the lecture. Most were saying some of the things the VP raised, were new to them. The question I have is what happened to us as a nation?” She wrote yesterday on her Facebook page.
According to Banda, those of her age know that most of what VP said is possible because they were there before.
“In the 60s and 70s we were proud Malawians who were hardworking communities, hardworking students, hardworking employers & employees. Just hardworking Malawians,”
“For me my concern is my fellow women. As we embark on this journey towards our malawian Agenda 2063, we must not be left behind,” she says.
Banda says mindset change shall start with all Malawians regardless of status.
“It shall be incumbent upon ourselves to join the race and to look for low hanging fruits and pick them. Meaning that we shall look for opportunities and grab them. The time is now. For example there was advertisement in the newspaper for women cooperatives to apply for loans for agribusiness. How many applied?? Are we waiting for handouts??” Banda says.
The former president hails the vice president for the powerful lecture.
“These are exciting times.Congratulations VP. We shall indeed march together as Tonse with Gods help,” Banda says.
