Al-Barakah Charity Trust, a faith based Islamic organization  that works towards the improvement of Education, Health and Relief has distributed  maize valued at  K5 million to 600 destitute families.

The distribution was conducted in the month of August 2013 in Zomba, Balaka, Mangochi, Salima Nkhotakota and Mulanje districts and it targeted the elderly, the visionary impair and those physically challenged.

Each family was receiving a bag of 25 kilogram.

Most of the people in the country are suffering due to low harvests and therefore the maize was distributed to bring relief to households thereby enabling them to continue living a normal life and to allow them to effectively contribute to development.

The relief aid has been distributed to all people regardless of religious affiliation.

Al-Barakah Charity Trust is based in Zomba and it was registered as a non-governmental organization in 2001. The objective of the Trust is to complement government efforts of providing quality life to people affected by various natural calamities hence the gesture to reach out to the 600 families in Malawi.
