Somber mood has engulfed Gome village in the area of senior chief Mwadzama in Nkhotakota following the sudden death of an epileptic man who drowned in Khula river.
The deceased identified as Alex Aidi, 22, died in the afternoon of January 20, 2020.
Nkhotakota police public relations officer Williams Kaponda said the deceased together with his friend were doing piece works in one of the gardens along the river.
“While there, the deceased left his friend to drink water in the river. Surprisingly, time elapsed without returning which prompted his friend to check on him,”
“Sadly, he was found lifeless drowned in the river,” Kaponda said.
Postmortem report from Benga health centre has confirmed that death occurred due to suffocation secondary to drowning.
The deceased hailed from Gome village in the area of senior chief Mwadzama in Nkhotakota district.
