Muslims, just like their colleagues in faith, Jews and Christians believe in Jesus (AS)’s return to earth. While to the Jews, Jesus (AS) will come to them as the promised Messiah whom they have been waiting for (although they didn’t recognize him as such when he was on earth), and to the Christians Jesus (AS) will come to them as the Judge of the Judges (to take only those who believed in his son-hood or divinity), to the Muslims, Jesus will come as an ordinary person (not as prophet as in his first stay on earth).
Due to these differences, there are also differing roles that Jesus (AS) will play after his descent. For the purposes of this presentation, we shall look at the Muslims’ point of view. This is, his descent is one of the major signs preceding the Day of Judgment.
JESUS’S DESCENT
The Ahadeeth are quite precise when they talk about the particulars regarding Jesus (AS)’s descent on earth. They talk about his physical features, exact time and place of descent and his first assignment with the Muslims.
In a nutshell, Jesus (AS) will return to the world at the time when the Muslim army led by Imam Mahdi shall be preparing for war against Dajjal (the Anti-Christ). He will be of average height. His hair will spread to the shoulders. It will be straight, neat and shining as immediately after a bath. On bending his head, the hair will seem as if pearls are falling. He will have an armour on his body and will be wearing two pieces of cloth light yellow in colour.
Jesus (AS) will descend on the eastern side near the minaret in Damascus with his hands on the shoulders of two angels to a group of about 800 men and 400 women with Imam Mahdi as their Amir (Leader). It will be at the time of Fajr (dawn prayer). At that time Imam Mahdi will have proceeded forward to lead the Fajr prayer and iqaamat (a call start the prayers) would have been said.
In seeing Jesus (AS) amongst them, Imam Mahdi will call upon Jesus (AS) to lead the dawn prayer but will decline and tell Imam Mahdi to lead the prayer since the iqaamat has already been said for him. Imam Mahdi will then lead the prayer and Jesus (AS) will follow him.
JESUS RETURNS AS A FIGHTER/CONQUERER
Immediately after the prayer is completed, Jesus (AS) will open the rear door where he will come face to face with Dajjal (Anti-Christ) with his army of 70,000 Jews. By the power of Allah, every non-believer who will be reached by the breath of Jesus (AS) will die.
At this time, the Muslims will come down from the mountains where they were hiding and pounce on the army of Dajjal marking a heavy war. Dajjal will then retreat but Jesus (AS) will pursue him with two flexible swords and one shield in his hands. He will meet Dajjal at the Gate of Hudd where Jesus (AS) will slay him and he will raise and show the Muslims the blood of Dajjal on his shield. The Jews will then be selected and some will be executed. The swine will be killed and the cross broken. Non-believers will revert to Islam, wars will end and people will now revert to their respective countries. However, some Muslims will remain in his service and companionship. People will live comfortable lives for some time and the wall barring the Ya’juj wa Ma’juj (Gog and Magog) will break free.
JESUS’S RULE ON EARTH
Jesus (AS) will stay on earth for a period of forty years. During this era, people will enjoy absolute peace, harmony and tranquility like no other period on earth. Wild animals will freely mix and graze with domestic animals. People will play with poisonous and venomous animals without any harm as the poisons will be taken away from them. No person will quarrel with another. The land will be more fertile and wealth will be so abundant such that Zakaat(annual compulsory 2.5% levy) and taxes will be abolished.
There shall be no other religions or religious divisions apart from one Islamic nation. The people will love prostrating before the Almighty Allah more than anything on the world. All hearts will be free from miserliness, envy, malice or jealously.
Jesus (AS) will marry and be in marriage for nineteen years. He will have children and then will pass away.
Muslims will perform Janaaza (funeral) prayer and will bury him next to Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
CONCLUSION
Jesus (AS) will descend to earth as a Muslim and will adhere to Quran and Sunnah (Prophet’s tradition). After the death of Imam Mahdi, he will take over as the leader of Muslim who will be leading them in prayers. In will be the period of abundance until the encounter with the Gog and Magog army.
After the Gog and Magog all die, Jesus will lead the Muslims with absolute peace and justice. It will be the period of wealth and abundance.
His death will mark the final days on earth and then the Day of Judgment.
How I wish Iwas 1 of those who will fight in the war against Dajjar.Iwish Ihad seen Jesus(AS) leading our Saalat..
So, are you saying all who are not Muslims will be killed by the breath of Jesus. Are you saying the prophesy of Daniel and Prophet Isaaih all hogwash? And if your Jesus would be coming for only the thing you mentioned in this article, then his coming here again does not make sense at all. Is this from the Quran? If yes, is there any evidence of what you have just written besides the Quran? The story you have written here is not credible, it sounds like a wishful thinking or a fairytale.
Salam brothers,I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the wonderful job you are doing ameen. It realy helps, especially to those who dont have enough time to sit in class. Its been long waiting for such avalued thing to arise online from our on backyard with our local reporters. My appeal to the board members of MalawiMuslim web is,if possible organise acollection of monthly posts from web in the form of Magazine to reach the people who not gained online services,so that they can also benefit and exprience your wonderful job.May Almighty Allah SAVE you and our Ummah in this time of Fitnah and Fasaad INSHA ALLAH.
Abraham,
It is very difficult for you to believe this until when it comes to pass. I wish Jesus appeared during your time for you to see if there will be any contradiction with what has been stated in this article. Those who want to believe this information should do so while those who do not should remain so. The problem is that people always associate Jesus with Christianity only, while Islam it accommodates all the prophets that preached the word of one God (Allah). The way Jesus behaved on this earth was not far from Islam. He kept long beards, wore Islamic attire, prostrated in prayer, etc. His next advent will be in tandem with Islamic attributes. Unfortunately, many will reject him again because of his Islamic appearance.
Mr Mahlaba, thank you very much for your comment. We really appreciate your input.
The purpose of the article, as captured in the title, is to say about what ISLAM says about the Day of Judgment.
The introduction clearly says that different religions (i.e, Islam, Judaism and Christianity) have different versions of the accounts surrounding Jesus's return. The best approach is to respect each other's views.
The article does not say all what Jesus will do, but it tells ONLY what concens the Judgment Day.
With due respect, I did not in anyway intend to be disrespectful of your Islamic views ladies and gentlemen. All I did was to ask a few questions upon which I needed clarity. I just needed your source other than the Quran. I needed to know that I should ignore all what prophet Daniel and Isaaih said about Jesus and his return. I know that you dismiss all that is in the New Testament of the Bible as all but contradictory lies, that's why I will not mention the book of Revelations. I know you regard me as an infidel and I'm sorry for my intrution into your community news.Have a happy publishing.
Abram,
I think there was no any harm with your comment. Actually what brothers was trying to say is that the article is written on the Islamic point of view, not all scriptures as such. Which means you cannot run away from "contradictions" as you put it as Quran and the Bible are two different books. What I would request you is to find time and learn more about Islam especially what Muslims know about Jesus (peace be upon him). And I am ready to send you the full complete bookS titled "THE MUSLIMS' JESUS" and "HIS (JESUS) TRUE MESSAGE". Do you know that Quran mentions some of the miracles which Jesus did which you can't find in the Bible? We are ready to help you, not that you convert to Islam but just to have a knowledge of how Muslims value Jesus. But all in all, we are happy that you are part of our thousands visitors. May God make your life easier! Ameen.
Thank you very much for this article.
I would like to highlight a few points to brother Abram. On his first question, the answer is contained in the article itself; every non-believer who will be reached by the breath of Jesus (AS) will die. On his second question, the answer is again in the article; For the purposes of this presentation, we shall look at the Muslims’ point of view. On his third question, the answer is again in the article; Due to these differences, there are also differing roles that Jesus (AS) will play after his descent. On his last questions, the answer again is in the article For the purposes of this presentation, we shall look at the Muslims’ point of view.
My advice to brother Abram is, for those issues which are out of this topic , he should visit our Islamic Information Bureau. Secondly, he should stick to the topic at hand instead of bringing things that are out of context. That way, we will lessen unnecessary arguments.
Below are the actual postings by brother Abram and the Staff Reporter.

As for the comments,” The story you have written here is not credible, it sounds like a wishful thinking or a fairytale.” Brother Abram, should have understood that this article is from the Islamic point of view and not from the Christian point of view. Therefore, concluding that is not credible and sounds like a fairytale is very offensive and somehow provocative considering that the writer in his introduction clearly stated where his article will be based from. The best brother Abram can do is to follow the master’s advice, ‘‘seek yee the truth for only the truth shall set you free.” Get some Islamic books and read them not that you become a muslim but you get a better understanding of Islam. We do it but we are not Christians.
Rafeeq, you guys are quick to label believers of other religions other than Islam infidels and all sorts of names, but when your stories are questioned you get offended. I've already mentioned that I did not intend to offend anyone, but quetioned the reliability of the source of this story as you always accuse the Bible of double standards and contradictions. Believe me Rafeeq, I've read more Islamic books than you can imagine. As for bringing things out of context, I don't know what you are talking about unless you want me to willy-nilly agree with the writer.Once again I've got a feeling that I'm an intruder and would therefore excuse myself from future comments. Once again have a happy publishing and stand for criticism.
Thank u again Mr Mahlaba. As the writer, I liked your comments and found them to be objective. We never felt offended. I have read about what the books of Daniel, Isiah & Revelations say about Jesus's return. Our intention was not to criticise or contradict what they say but only to give the Muslim side of the story. The article is sourced from Prophet's hadeeth as compiled by Tirmidhi, Abudawud and Muslim. All our articles are open for criticism as evidenced within. U are free to come & comment on anything
