Mangochi Police Station has refuted social media claims that the station received a complaint from one of the villagers in Mponda claiming ownership of two crocodiles that were shot dead in Shire river on 5th and 7th November,2019.
Mangochi Police Public Relations Officer Rodrick Maida said the two crocodiles caused havoc around Mpondasi dock between October and early November, 2019 in which they killed two people.
“Mangochi Police in conjuction with National Parks and Wildlife took the initiative to hook the animals before shooting them to death,” said Maida.
The police PRO adds that it is therefore fake news and abuse of social media that the two shot dead crocodiles belonged to a person as there is nobody who lodged a complaint of that nature.
