Road Accident Claims Three Lives in Mangochi

A driver and two passengers have died in a road accident after a motor vehicle they were traveling in overturned today in Mangochi district.

The deceased driver is Anafi William (29) of village Chipola whilst the deceased passengers are Lyna Yunusu (37) of village Chimatira and Black Yobe (74) of village Satikadzuwa all from Traditional Authority Mponda in Mangochi district.

According to Mangochi police station public relations officer Rodrick Maida, unregistered Toyota Sienta hatchback was cruising from the direction of monkey -bay going towards Mangochi boma with six passengers on board.

“Upon arrival at Samama, the driver lost control of the motor vehicle and eventually overturned once in which the driver sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot whilst the two passengers died upon arrival at Mangochi district hospital after sustaining severe injuries,”

“Other four passengers escaped with minor injuries and were treated as out-patients,” Maida said.

Meanwhile police in the district are advising drivers to always observe road traffic rules and regulations.
