The deceased have been identified as Adrian Habingabire, 22, from Rwanda and Fulawo Magombo, 72, from Chinyama 2 Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mkukula in Dowa district.

The incidents happened on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Dzaleka Refugee Camp and Chinyama Village respectively.

Dowa police station public relations officer Gladson M’bumpha says it is alleged that the first deceased Adrian Habingabire had a girlfriend and this week he was told that the affair was over and this however, did not go well with the deceased who ended up hanging himself with an electrical wire.

“Police visited the scene and took the body to Dowa District Hospital where postmortem examination established that death was caused due to strangulation and a suicide note was also found in the deceased’s pocket,” M’bumpha says.

According to M’bumpha. in the second incident, the deceased Fulawo Magombo was being accused of poisoning a certain man by the name of Chipelepete who died at Kamuzu Central Hospital last week.

“Later on elders from Chinyama 2 Village on Sunday May 31 2020 wanted to accompany the deceased Fulawo Magombo to Village Headman Chipelepete to clarify the matter because they were only living in bad rumours of poisoning the innocent person. On Sunday, May, 31 2020, the deceased was found hanging dead in a tree beside his house,” he says.
