The news that sheikhs in the country are failing to agree on the Eid Adhuha day is very unfortunate and not appealing.

Muslims in the country are tired of these issues which normally come out each year. We at Malawi Muslims Official Website are up to today don’t understand why the Ulamas are failing to agree on the ruling of this matter.

Everybody knows that when things like this happens, the only place where we can seek guidance is from the Quran and Hadith at the same time using common sense.

Understanding and respecting views of the majority can also be a better solution to this matter.

“Give respect to others thoughts and cherish their feelings, when you do this regularly you’ll step into the magnificent world of wisdom and understanding,” says Kemmy Nola.

It is pleasing though to hear that the leaders are meeting on Saturday on the same. However, while the Ulamas will be conducting this meeting in an effort to iron out the differences, the question remains, why was this not resolved in 2010, when the same scenario occurred?

Our understanding is that last year there was also differing views on Eid day which ended up some sheikhs being forced to bow down to other sheikhs’ request, then why Ulamas in Malawi neglect this very important issue?

We therefore would like to ask the leaders to make their resolutions based on the following questions:

Firstly, those who say Eid prayers should be observed on Wednesday should convince Muslims in the country why they are saying so because it is a well known fact that there is no any country which we differ in time up to 24 hours for us to perform Eid on different dates?

This time around as Majlis Ulama Secretary General has said Malawi and Saudi Arabia has 30 minutes different in time, then why should we again differ on Eid date?

Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM), which is a mother body of Muslims in the country should also intervene, do its own research and come up with a concrete decision  on the matter.

Leadership in most Islamic Organisations is a challenge. They cant talk the truth when their bwanas have restricted them to perform Eid on the right time. My heart is bleeding when i read that NIFA is also taking side to decide their own fate, when in reality in the whole grouping nobody is qualified to talk abot Islam……subhanallah
