KERMANSHA, IRAN: Iranian spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has urged Muslim clerics to be vigilant against forces that bent on creating divisions between Sunnis and Shias thereby weakening Islam.

He was speaking on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 to clerics, scholars and seminarians in the western Iranian province of Kermansha.

According to a report posted on Presstv’s website, Ayatollah described the popular movements in Middle East and North Africa as well as the demonstrations against capitalism in America as one of the waves that are leaning towards Islam.

“Shia and Sunni clerics must remain very vigilant about plots, and find ways to counter enemies’ schemes through holding joint meetings and and cooperation.” Ayatollah said.
