Looking into the affairs of humanity in general compounds the task ahead of each and every organization being it religious or secular and that it deals with people. This notion forced Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) to source tricycles in an effort to ease the hardships of the physical challenged people in their day-to-day movements.

Ng’ong’ola was born physically challenged, married with four children, only being a housewife since she cannot even get a job or run a business to support herself due to her condition.

She was depending on her children to escort her when she wants to go anywhere around to make sure that she is safe. This was even affecting her children since they were sometimes failing to go to school in order to take care of their mother.

This is just a continuation of our duties as MAM-Lawe

MAM made the donation as one way of working with the government of reducing some of the challenges which people are facing in the country and notable of them the physically challenged people.

During the presentation ceremony of the tricycles, MAM’s Acting Secretary General A-Hajj Twaibu Lawe said it is just a continuation of the duties and the responsibilities MAM is having to serve the community.

“Today we are here giving out these tricycles to the people who find difficulties when travelling due to their conditions. MAM has bought these tricycles at 1.1 million kwacha and this is just a symbolic presentation since some of the targeted people are not here because they cannot manage to get here and after this presentation, we will go where they are to get their tricycles,” said Lawe.

Lawe said they bought the tricycles with support from Kuwait Charity Associations to reduce the number of people facing this challenge.

“Kuwait Charity Associations has assisted us with funds to buy these tricycles and we have spent 1.1 million kwacha to buy all these and we want to assure Malawians that as an association, we are geared to assist the people in various aspects of their life. The current leadership of MAM is determined to work closely with people and join government in its efforts of looking after its people,” he said.

Speaking after receiving the donation Aisha Ng’ong’ola said she is very grateful for the gift since she was not dreaming of having it in her life.

“Let me thank Muslim Association of Malawi for considering me to be one of the beneficiaries for these tricycles, this will really help me to cover long distances and the message I have to MAM is to consider us with money for start-up for small scale businesses, now that will be able to move around with ease.
