MANEB Suspends National Examination Timetables

The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB), has suspended the 2020 Primary School Leaving Certificate of Educations( PSLCE), Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) and Primary Teacher Certificate of Educations( PTCE) examination timetables.

In a letter addressed to all head teachers of primary schools, secondary schools, and principals of Teachers Training Colleges with copies to Division Education Managers( EDMs), District Education Managers( DEMs), the President, Independent schools among others, signed by the Board’s Executive Director, Gerald Axel Chiunda dated 12th May, 2020, MANEB says the examination timetables have been suspended due to Coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent closure of schools and colleges.

MANEB is advising its stakeholders to take note that the supervision of the examination timetables still remains inforce until the Board communicates otherwise.

However, there have been a number of press statement from the Ministry of Education quoting its Principal Secretary, Justin Saidi as being the one signing, only to find, its fake.

According to an educationist, Limbani Nsapato, many people such as parents, and private school owners are pressurizing the ministry to re- open schools, since many children are doing nothing at home.

But, speaking on the re- opening of schools, Secretary for Education, Mr. Justin Saidi, emphasized that the decision to open schools will only be arrived at after consulting with medical professionals and the committee put in place by President Peter Mutharika to oversee COVID-19 pandemic management.
