Mangochi Police has received a 2 bedroomed house constructed through Constituency Development Fund(CDF)
meant for Lungwena Police Unit Officer In-charge.
Mangochi police staion public relations officer Amina Dadi says the house has been officially handed over by Member of parliament for Mangochi Lutende Constituency Honourable ldrisa Kazembe on November 15, 2022 at Lungwena Police Unit in the area of Traditional Authority Namabvi in Mangochi.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Kazembe outlined that CDF was established to provide MPs and their constituent communities to make choices and implement projects that maximise their welfare in line with their needs and preferences.
“CDF is there to respond to immediate short-term community needs and implementation of local development projects particularly those that provide essential basic needs including security hence constructing this house for our police” Kazembe added.
Concuring with Kazembe, the District Commissioner Dr Raphael Piringu expressed his satisification and applauded Kazembe for the development.
However Piringu requested for more houses at the police formation and urged members of the community to respect and work hand in hand with the police for the betterment of the community.
On her part, the Station Officer for Mangochi Police, Mrs Violet Kamwendo, Assistant Commissioner of Police thanked Kazembe for considering the police.
“Security is paramount to the development of communities, and Malawi as a country, since investors prefer secured areas for their investments. The house alone is a motivation and people will be served in time since it’s near the office than commuting from long distances” Kamwendo added.
She also urged the community to desist from mob justice which leads to torching or vandalising of police facilities and encouraged them to give a room for dialogue in case of any misunderstandings.
