Muslim students urged to be exemplary

The Chairperson of National Muslim Students Association (NAMSA)- Southern region chapter,Abdullah Willy Chapola has urged Muslim students to be exemplary.

Chapola made the remarks on Saturday during a Muslim students gathering attended by secondary and university students at Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) under the theme ” How can Muslim students excel with their education.”

“We are supposed to be exemplary on what we do to paint Islam with a good picture,” he told Malawi Muslim Website after the function.

He also stressed on the need for Muslim students to encourage each other in every activity to excel.

“We need to encourage each other in whatever we do. Be it in education ,businesses among others if we want to excel in life.We need to push each other to achieve our goals,” he said.

In her remarks, Rasheedah Nsamila, a first Muslim girl to graduate in Bachelor of Science in Earth (Geology) with Distinction from MUST,urged the students to set realistic goals in life.

“Everyone has a career choice but most of the people choose to ignore it. You must choose your career and pursue it,” she said.

Mussa Melesha,one of the committee members for Hijaab Task Force encouraged Muslim female students to be putting on Hijaab, always.

During the gathering, secondary school students who have just passed MSCE were briefed on the courses offered in different universities and colleges in malawi and their requirements so that they should choose wisely in the forthcoming university application.

Students from The Polytechnic, MUST, College of Medicine (CoM , International College of Business Management (ICBM), Malawi College of Accountancy (MCA), Catholic University (CU) and secondary schools from Blantyre, Thyolo and Chiradzulu attended the event.

Celebrated Nashid artist, Wallace Salanje spiced the occasion.

NAMSA-southern region chapter organised the function in collaboration with The Polytechnic and MUST.
