Nikah and other Islamic Functions Association (NIFA) yesterday extended congratulations to the newly-elected national chairman of the Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad.
According to a statement released by the organisation, signed by President Aman Kunje, the organisation also thanked the electoral commission for conducting free and fair elections.
“The President and executive board of Nikah and Other Islamic Functions (NIFA) wishes to congratulate Muslim Association of Malawi for conducting free and fair elections and also wishes to congratulate the new chairman Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad and the entire [new] committee for their success,” reads the statement, made available to MalawiMuslims.Com.
In a sideline interview with MalawiMuslims.com, the publicity Secretary Issah Kazembe said “we have released the statement because we were among the Islamic organizations which were invited to vote,” adding, “the organization is ready to work with the new committee.”
On April 30th 2011, MAM conducted first ever elections which saw Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad wining the national chairmanship position in a landslide victory.
NIFA is an Islamic organisation, which was formed in 2004 by a few Muslim brothers and sisters, its main objectives are to promote and enrich Islamic marriages in line with Islamic law and to unite the poor and the rich Muslim families. Currently, it is headed by Aman Kunje, who is also a former MAM Deputy Secretary General.
