Dr. Chakwera said his Vice who is Minister responsible for Public Sector Reforms, Dr. Saulosi Klaus Chilima, is the mechanic traveling with him to repair the parts of the vehicle that need to be serviced to prevent breakdowns and accidents.

He said in 10 months alone, he has designed the structure and focus Presidential Delivery Lab, recruiting a team of professionals to secure its mandate saying the Unit is ready to take on its assignment.

Speaking in Lilongwe when he launched the Presidential Delivery Lab at the Capitol Hill on Monday, Dr. Chakwera said the Presidential Delivery Unit [PDU] is a special room in his office with a team of professionals working around the clock to ensure that the key priorities that he and Dr. Chilima promised to deliver for Malawians are being implemented by the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) that have the mandate and responsibility to do so.

Dr. Chakwera said the PDU and the Public Sector Reforms being led by the Vice-President, Dr. Chilima are focusing on ensuring that all MDAs are functioning efficiently without the needless bureaucracy and red tape that often hinder progress.

The President said the people of Malawi are the ones who are waiting for them in the home village to deliver the goods they promised, the goods being wealth, jobs, and food security saying the vehicle to use in delivering these goods is the Malawi Government which is made up of various MDAs.

He said public servants especially those in charge of MDAs are the conductors of the Minibus, and their job is to make sure that the goods they are to deliver are on board and in good conditions.

President Dr. Chakwera said people need all three components to be functional if they are going to reach their destination saying Delivery Lab is a place where the team from his office will work to make sure that the programs and projects in those MDAs are carrying the goods they promised to deliver to Malawians.

“The measure of success for the journey is the successful delivery of the goods, that is why both the Unit in my office and the Lab it will conduct in the next 4 weeks place an emphasis on delivery,” said Dr. Chakwera.

He said the measure of success by which Malawians are evaluating their collective performance is whether the jobs, wealth, and food security they promised them are being delivered saying for that to happen, all the parts need to work together to ensure delivery is accomplished.

Meanwhile, one of the social media commentators, Onjezani Kenani writing on his official Facebook page, says President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has admitted that he is indeed the driver of a Minibus which is carrying different types of developments to deliver to Malawians.

“He has clarified that his Deputy, Dr. Saulosi Klaus Chilima is not a conductor but a mechanic who will be fixing any fault to ensure delivery is accomplished, “reads Kenani’s writing on the
